Aviom's MH10f Moves Broadcast Audio at MTV Video Music Awards

Aviom MH10f Aviom’s MH10f Fiber Merger Hub made its high-profile debut moving live broadcast audio at the recent MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas. The Vegas hotel-nightclub that hosted the star-studded extravaganza has a sizable complement of Aviom Pro64 Series products already installed, including a dozen 6416dio Digital I/O Modules as tie lines. The MH10f Merger Hub allowed MTV engineers and installer Audio Analysts to connect the venue's 12 6416dio modules via fiber to broadcast locations over long distances.

The MH10f Merger Hub is designed to merge and distribute A-Net® data streams and provide a host of professional features to make audio networking with Pro64 Series products easy to set up and configure in multiple professional audio environments. The MH10f offers unprecedented flexibility and simplicity in system design with features and performance created specifically for networking and distributing audio. The MH10f holds 10 bidirectional A-Net® ports. Eight ports use EtherCon RJ45 connectors, while the remaining two hold SFP slots. The 10-port MH10f Merger Hub supports parallel connections in a Pro64 audio network with integrated fiber optic connectivity.

In Pro64 systems running in Auto Mode, the Merger Hub creates a single network stream, which is redistributed out all 10 ports. This ensures that all 64 audio channels are available throughout the network, regardless of the physical location of any audio input or output. Channels can be physically located off any combination of the 10 ports, even through multiple mergers. In a Manual Mode system, the Merger Hub accommodates three preset configurations, allowing users to optimize the way each point merges and distributes audio channels.

Each configuration preserves the bidirectionality of the system, even as inputs are separated physically off various legs of a hub. The MH10f can also be used to provide the protection of a backup cable for main runs, as in a digital snake. The Merger Hub will also merge Aviom’s Virtual Data Cable™ data, allowing Pro64 devices to send and share control data effortlessly over long cable distances (up to 400ft/120m between devices).
