DJW supplies EAW System for Sydney's Dragonfly Night Club

 

 

DragonflySydney based company, DJ Warehouse has recently completed the complete supply and installation of an EAW Avalon System for the Dragonfly Nightclub located in Kings Cross.

DJW's Technical Director Dave Coxon comments: “DJW Projects was commissioned by the owners of Dragonfly to design a world class audio system that would fulfill all the requirements for both the local and international acts that performed at the venue. After extensive evaluation of the various systems on the market, we chose a combination of EAW cabinets including 4 x EAW Avalon DC4, 2 x EAW Avalon DCS2, 6 x EAW VR62, 4 x EAW VR21 and an EAW DX810 Processor. The result is a system regarded as the envy of all local competition”.

Based on design criteria developed by dance culture participants, the EAW Avalon Series takes a fresh look at the balance of subsystems within a loudspeaker system.

The Avalon line comprises bottom-heavy systems with double the number of woofers per system to deliver the beat as a physical concussion. The flagship DC1 employs the mid/high components of the traditional 3-way system above but uses four (not two) 15-in woofers. Simultaneously, EAW engineers have created a subwoofer system optimized to deliver 50 Hz and up, enhancing response in the critical 50 – 200 Hz region.

The Avalon product range includes two super HF arrays – one comprising three drivers intended for mounting near full range systems and another comprising four drivers intended for suspension directly above the dancefloor. When super HF arrays are suspended directly above the dancefloor with full range systems mounted along the sides, dancers will notice especially enhanced effects in an area more-or-less centered between the two. Under optimum conditions, a distinct swirling effect is observed.
