When Audix announced the FP7, a mid-priced even-piece drum mic package, it sent waves of curiosity through the Pro Audio world, especially given that the FP7 is about half the price tag of the FP7's big brother the DP7 package The FP7 features a new series od Audix dynamic cmis: an F6 for kick, an F5 for snare, three F2's for toms and two small diaphragm F9 condensers for overheads. The complete ensemble comes in a foam lined aluminium carry case with stand clips for each mic and foam windscreens for the F9's. All the mics have surdy zinc bodies, with the dynamics featuring tough steel grills that will withstand drum hits from Lars Ulrich. The F9 condenser mics have cardioid pickup patterns while the dymnamics are hypercardioid which helps achieve better isolation with less bleed between sources, while improving gain-before-feedback in live situations. Mark Parsons over at 'Modern Drummer' had this to say about the FP7 drum mic package: "Without advance knowledge of the very low price of these mics, you’d be hard pressed to differentiate them, quality-wise, from some of the mainstays that have been used for years. So if you’re looking to mike up your kit without spending too much cash, give the new Fusion mics an audition. And listen with your ears, not your wallet. You might be pleasantly surprised."You can read all about it at Audix or read the awesome review over at Modern Drummer Contact Us For More Information |
